It has been almost 8 years since my very first class with Kelda VanPatten at Hillsboro high school when I was just a sophomore. I still have the most wonderful memories of those classes and the support she gave me as a student. From that moment on all the way up to my graduation she was a motivating, encouraging, and challenging mentor. She taught me many critical skills within her classes when it came to my artwork and exploring techniques. And beyond the classroom managed the Art Club, set up numerous public exhibitions of student work, and even helped plan and fundraise for a cultural exploration trip for students to go to New York City for a week!!! I will forever be thankful for the countless hours Kelda and her colleagues spent with me to help me grow as an artist and a person. The students and parents at DaVinci middle school are very lucky to have Kelda!!!
